My Breast Cancer Journey with Beekley

michelle_cvr

I believe that everything happens for a reason.

2016 was an especially trying year for me, culminating in my being diagnosed with breast cancer.

When I first started working at Beekley Corporation, I couldn't understand how I could be so lucky to end up at such an amazing company working with such incredible people. Fast forward a few years and the reason was as clear as day why and how I ended up here.

It was going to take two Beekley villages to help me through my next journey - the village that supports our products and our customers, and the village that I have come to know intimately as a Beekley Associate myself.

Never in a million years would I have imagined I would be on the receiving end of our products instead of watching them get made.

Unlike other patients that are in the same situation as I was, I have something that they don't have. I know where the products used come from:

  • I know the building where the products are made. It is a space filled with positive energy.
  • I personally know the people that create, assemble, inspect, package, ship, market, design, train, sell, and support the products that were used to diagnose and treat my cancer.
  • I know that those products are created & made with the utmost respect, compassion, and love.
  • I know the ideology of every person in the building is that they will make difference in someone's life.

Unlike other patients, I have a Beekley FamilyBeekley Family

My Beekley family supports me emotionally - sending me well wishes in a believe box, inspiring words of wisdom, and unwavering friendship, not to mention the many visits with bags filled with delicious food for me and my own family.

Although scared to death, I believe that the outcome is going to be positive.

I am able to do that because I personally know Beekley’s philosophy as a company and the mindset of all its associates.

I know how hard everyone worked towards the creation (and continues to support) the Beekley Center for Breast Health and Wellness at Bristol Hospital where I went for my mammogram and surgery.

Thanks to the long-term partnership between Beekley Corporation and Bristol Hospital working together towards improving breast health in our community, the generosity of the Beekley Family Foundation, and the fundraising efforts of my fellow Beekley Associates to help build a state-of-the-art breast center, I also know that I had access to the most recent technology, the best doctors, nurses, staff and the best medical products available.

And that is personally thank each and every one of my co-workers for doing what they do.

You not only made a difference in my life but you are making a difference in so many others too.

I am forever grateful for both my Beekley families.
