Beekley Medical has now been recognized by a second organization for our growth and success in sales outside the United States. Recognized in 2018 with the President's "E" Award for Exports from the US Department of Commerce, Beekley has now been recognized by the US Small Business Administration as Connecticut’s Exporter of the Year for 2019.
This quite the honor as only one company in the state is chosen each year.
The Small Business Exporter of the Year is an individual who has increased sales, profits or growth of employment because of exporting, using creative strategies and effective solutions with a history of exporting and a vast portfolio of current export markets.
Beekley exports to over 50 countries with the top 20 being: Canada, Austria, Germany, France, Great Britain, Australia, Brazil, Israel, Japan, Ireland, Finland, Slovenia, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Croatia, Switzerland, the UAE, Italy, and Greece. We are truly making a difference every day all around the world.
You can only imagine the complex paperwork that needs to be handled to manage these orders, and the regulations we need to understand to make these sales happen. Amy Bosco, Senior Manager of Global Business Development, has brought together a cross-functional team from multiple departments within Beekley that meet on regular basis to discuss strategy, celebrate wins, and talk through issues. It takes a big team to manage “the world.”
Amy was nominated for this award by Denise Whitford, Business Advisor for Connecticut's Small Business Development Center, an organization that is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, and the University of Connecticut, that provides its clients with competitive insight, technical skills,and strategic guidance to help drive their success in both domestic and international markets.
Denise took on Amy as a client in 2018 to help her further expand exports. Denise, along with other members of the Small Business Administration visited Beekley for a tour of our operations and came away quite impressed. They were particularly wowed by the energy of our Beekley Associates and our incredible manufacturing facility.
Beekley prides itself on being a “Great Small Company” and now we have been recognized as such by the Small Business Administration for our exporting work. Congratulations to Amy Bosco and the whole global team!
